Agreement delivers extension of fiber optical measurement portfolio

October 25, 2010 – Morganville, NJ - Lios Technology Inc, the leading provider of OFDR distributed temperature measurement systems; today announced a strategic partnership agreement with Prime Photonics LC, a technology leader in extreme environment sensor solutions for the commercial and military product marketplace.

June 24, 2010 – Blacksburg, VA – Prime Photonics, LC, announced today that it will be merging with its subsidiary Prime Research, LC.  The merger will be effective June 30, 2010, and the surviving entity will be named Prime Photonics, LC.  “The consolidation will not impact our current Prime Research projects, and other than a name change we expect the transition will be largely transparent to our customers.  The single company structure will significantly benefit our current product development efforts and better positions Prime for investment into ongoing and future commercialization activities. ” says CEO Steve Poland.

December 8, 2009  - Blacksburg - Prime Photonics is moving to another location in town.

Officials with the technology company announced last week that the company will relocate its operations from the Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center to 1116 S. Main St., Suite 200, Blacksburg, VA.

August 25, 2009 - Washington, D.C. — The U.S. Department of Energy has selected seven projects to develop sensors and controls to support the full-scale implementation and operation of highly efficient power generation technologies with near-zero emissions. The total award value of the projects is nearly $7 million, which includes $1.4 million in cost-sharing from the recipients. The projects will be managed by the Office of Fossil Energy’s National Energy Technology Laboratory.

August 28, 2009 – Blacksburg, VA – Prime Research today announced the award of a Phase II SBIR award from the US Navy for the development of a suite of sensors for use on Navy electromagnetic launchers (railguns).  The extremely high strength magnetic and electric fields present on and around a railgun during operation render electrical-based sensors inoperable.  For the program Prime Research will be developing a fiber optic-based sensor system capable of measuring magnetic and electric field strength and direction, dynamic pressure and temperature, all during operation of the railgun.
